Fish were scattered and tough to pattern caught a few on green pumpkin tube jigs on the breakwalls, and green pumpkin purple flake worms, and senkos on the docks in the marina’s. Tough day, so I decided to take the run into lake calumet hoping the action would be better.

Alum Creek was very stingy as it has been for a few weeks now. The two day SQT only took 12lbs to win, I had seven bites in two days and thankfully put all 7 in the boat for a 15th place finish. Water temps were around 77 degrees and very clear, the full moon had the fish feeding all night. All my bites came early and after about 9:30 am were few and far between.

Fished Lake Calumet Last night after a day on Lake Michigan. Smallmouth great in the low light conditions on green pumpkin tube jigs. Fish were up shallow on the rocks and break walls, caught a few on a spinnerbait. Caught a few largemouth earlier in th evening on a crankbait.

Fish are really biting good at Hardy. Catching lots of bass on soft plastics and topwaters. also catching bass on a spinnerbait after dark . Catching nicer fish in the creek channel in 10 to 15 feet of water. Lots of fish still in shallow water good place to round out your limit, or if you are just looking to catch numbers of bass.

Fishing on 14 was a little better in creeks, and sloughs. Flipping wood with tube jigs, and throwing spinnerbaits are your best bet. Some fish on wingdams, and rocks out in front of a few marinas.

River is down now. Pulling water by the day. Main river is the best fishing. Current on rocks, wingdams, and jetties are best. No bites in the slop, pads, or duck weed, even near current. Craws on stand-up jig heads were best on rocks.

Fished Paintsville this morning. Had a better trip than the last but still a little slow. I fished the headwaters today. The water temp was 82 and stained in Morgan Co this morning. I flipped jigs and big worms around standing timber in 3-6ft of water. I caught 13 fish total, most being in the slot limit, but did manage to have 2 over today.

Potomac River Fishing Report

The grass is thick and the mats are holding big fish. High pressure calm bright days are best for flipping. Top water is working all day over the grass and on grass lines. Frogs are my lure of choice. When the water is moving or the grass is scattered, plastic frogs such as Vicious Pollywog Frog produce well. When throwing onto thick grass areas spro and snag proof frogs do the trick. Always keep small crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and Vicious PT Shakin worms at the ready.
Right now Mattawoman and Chicamuxen creeks are suffering from some type of algae bloom that is coming in thick and clouding the water up pretty heavy. There are still clean water areas in these creeks. To find these areas you’ll need to look in areas opposite the wind direction or water movement.

Good Luck,
Don Zaegel

Sardis is improving daily while the lake is being drawn down towards winter pool, positioning the fish on the outside edges of the creeks and main lake points. Catching fish on Carolina rig plastics and Stanford crank baits in sexy shad. The top-water bite is still good early in the morning, but dies off quickly as the day progresses.

Fished Kentucky Lake Sunday with Vicious Tournament Team member Michael Wooley, fresh off his 2nd place finish at the STREN. We fished the same pattern he used, targeting grassy points with 10” worms and 17 lb Vicious Fluorocarbon. We caught over 100 fish that day, not near the quality that he had previously caught, most being between 13 and 15”. Our best 5 were around 15lbs.
